This exhibition is a celebration of the snake, a powerful symbol of wisdom and renewal, as well as a fond farewell to the passing year. Showcasing the works of 16 renowned artists, including Binh Nhi, Vuong Linh, and Le Thiet Cuong, the annual event presents a unique perspective on this fascinating creature.
The artworks on display are a testament to the artists’ mastery of various media, including oil, gouache, do paper, and acrylic, as well as sculpture and ceramics from Huong Canh and Bat Trang. While some pieces, such as those by Le Thiet Cuong, directly portray snakes in all their splendor, others capture the essence of nature and the human spirit in vibrant landscapes and portraits.

In conjunction with the Lunar New Year celebrations, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts will present “12 Zodiacs” by artist Dang Viet Linh, opening on January 7. This extraordinary series, created over 12 years, captures the artist’s dreams and hopes for each new year, with the snake taking center stage in 2025.
Dang Viet Linh shares, “The 12 Zodiacs is my way of expressing my feelings and aspirations for each passing year. While my inspirations and expressions evolve, the focus remains on celebrating the human spirit and the joy of life.”
As part of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Indochina College of Fine Arts, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum also hosts “Here & Now,” showcasing the late artist Dong Huy Bien’s works until January 5, 2025. His 30 lacquer artworks capture the beauty of everyday themes, from people and daily life to the changing seasons, creating a warm and rustic atmosphere through sentimental and fluid strokes.

Le Auction House joins the celebrations with their exhibition, “20th Century Vietnamese Art,” from January 1 to 7, 2025, at 44 Yen Phu, Hanoi. This rare event showcases the masters of Indochinese painting, including notable groups such as “Pho – Thu – Luu – Dam” and “Tri – Lan – Van – Can.” The exhibition also highlights works by renowned painters from the French Indochina and contemporary periods, offering a comprehensive view of Vietnam’s rich artistic heritage.
The influence of French artists during the colonial period is undeniable, and this exhibition pays homage to their role in shaping Vietnam’s fine arts. Through their teaching, exploration, and photography, they left an indelible mark on local artistic expression, with the likes of Victor Tardieu, Joseph Inguimberty, and Evariste Jonchère among those featured, alongside works by Henri Mege.

The Visionary: Uncle Ho’s Legacy Through the Eyes of a Diasporan Artist
All the paintings showcased here are the artistic creations of overseas artist Dao Trong Ly. Since taking on the role of managing the Memorial Site of President Ho Chi Minh in Nakhon Phanom province in 2018, Ly has crafted these paintings, drawing inspiration from the photos and documents he discovered during his tenure.
