THE HANOI TIMES — CMC Corporation, a forefront technology leader in Vietnam, has unveiled a $250 million investment in a state-of-the-art hyperscale data center in Ho Chi Minh City. This initiative aims to fortify the nation’s digital backbone and propel its advancements in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
The CMC Hyperscale Data Center, greenlit by the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) Management Board, will be strategically positioned within the city’s eastern innovation corridor.

Launching with an initial 30 MW capacity, the facility is designed to scale up to 120 MW, addressing the escalating demands of AI and digital transformation.
It will deliver cutting-edge services in AI, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity, all powered by renewable energy and adhering to stringent green design standards.
“This data center marks a pivotal step in establishing Ho Chi Minh City as a leading regional digital hub,” stated Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC Corporation.
The project underscores CMC’s global expansion strategy while cementing its role in Vietnam’s AI and digital economy blueprint.
It also stands as a cornerstone of Ho Chi Minh City’s digital infrastructure development initiatives.
In June, CMC commenced construction on its innovation hub in Hanoi, envisioned by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as a “technology valley” poised to attract elite engineers and scientists.
As of March 2025, Vietnam’s total data center capacity stood at 182 MW, significantly below the national goal of 870 MW by 2030, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Presently, the country operates a single hyperscale data center with a 30 MW capacity.
To bridge this gap, domestic firms are channeling investments into large-scale projects anticipated to add 220 MW.
In April, Viettel, a military-operated Vietnamese telecom giant, initiated the construction of a 140 MW data center in Ho Chi Minh City.
