Vietnam has been drawn into Group B, alongside Myanmar, Brunei, and Cambodia, setting up an exciting group stage.

The team’s opening match is against Brunei on June 22, followed by encounters with Cambodia and Myanmar on June 25 and June 28, respectively.

With 12 teams participating, only the top team from each group and the best second-place finisher will advance to the semifinals. The final is scheduled for July 4.

Coached by Tran Minh Chien, the Vietnamese team is expected to be a strong contender and is aiming for a top finish in this regional tournament.

In 2022, Vietnam finished as runner-up, losing to Indonesia 1-0 in the final. This year, they are determined to go one step further and claim the title.

The ASEAN U16 Boys’ Championship is an annual event, bringing together the best young footballing talent from across Southeast Asia, with occasional guests from further afield.

The tournament has a rich history, dating back to 2002, with a brief hiatus before resuming in 2005. Vietnam has an impressive record, having lifted the trophy in 2006, 2010, and 2017.
