The Vietnamese leader, Secretary To Lam, and the President of Benin witnessed the signing of an agriculture cooperation agreement between the two countries’ respective ministries during the forum.
Secretary To Lam met with Geoffroy Roux De Bezieux, Honorary President of the French Business Confederation and President of the Alliance of Francophone Employers, on the morning of October 4th. During the meeting, he affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to supporting and creating favorable conditions for French businesses to operate successfully in the country.
On October 4th afternoon, Secretary To Lam had brief meetings with the leaders of Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, and Ghana at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts. The leaders also posed for a group photo at the opening ceremony of the 19th Francophonie Summit.
Secretary To Lam attended the 19th Francophonie Summit at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, which brought together representatives from nearly 100 member countries of the Francophone community. The summit focused on Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in French.
On October 5th morning in Paris, Secretary To Lam met with distinguished experts and intellectuals from the Vietnamese diaspora across several countries. They shared their experiences and offered suggestions on various topics, including multilateral cooperation in technology and artificial intelligence.
On the same day, Secretary To Lam held bilateral meetings with leaders from Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Laos, Cambodia, and Mauritania. He affirmed Vietnam’s comprehensive partnership with Canada, based on mutual trust and benefit, during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Secretary To Lam met with the Secretary-General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, and praised the strong cooperation between Vietnam and the organization. He also acknowledged their contributions to promoting solidarity and cooperation for peace, stability, and development.
Secretary To Lam met with Benoit De Saint-Exupery, Executive Vice President of Sales at Airbus, and leaders from the Safran Group. He congratulated Airbus on maintaining its position as the world’s largest commercial aircraft manufacturer for five consecutive years.
Secretary To Lam attended the award ceremony of the Francophone Economic Forum on October 5th afternoon, which honored Vietnam’s FPT Corporation and Madagascar’s Made For A Woman company.
Secretary To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the session on reformed multilateralism. He affirmed the crucial role of multilateral mechanisms and highlighted the contributions of the OIF and Francophone institutions in addressing global challenges and establishing frameworks for emerging issues.
After the 19th Francophonie Summit, Secretary To Lam began an official visit to France on October 6th. He and his delegation laid flowers in memory of President Ho Chi Minh at Montreau Park in Montreuil.
On October 6th, Secretary To Lam attended the inauguration of a commemorative plaque named after President Ho Chi Minh in Sainte Adresse. President Ho Chi Minh is recognized as a national liberation hero and an outstanding cultural figure of Vietnam.
Secretary To Lam met with the Mayor of Le Havre, Edouard Philippe, and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the East Sea, in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, hosted a welcoming ceremony for Secretary To Lam and his delegation on October 7th.
French President Emmanuel Macron received Secretary To Lam at the Élysée Palace in Paris on October 7th.
The two leaders held a joint press conference, highlighting the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.
During their talks, the leaders agreed to upgrade the Vietnam-France relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. France became the first EU member state to establish such a partnership with Vietnam.
Secretary To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the signing of several cooperation documents between the two countries in various fields, including diplomacy, culture, education, transportation, and internal affairs.
Secretary To Lam met with the President of the French National Assembly, the President of the French Senate, the National Secretary of the French Communist Party, and the leadership of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association.
On October 7th afternoon, Secretary To Lam visited the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris and met with Director-General Audrey Azoulay. He lauded UNESCO’s role in maintaining peace and security and promoting sustainable development worldwide through multilateral cooperation in various fields.
On the evening of October 7th, Secretary To Lam and his delegation departed Paris for Hanoi, concluding their successful participation in the 19th Francophonie Summit and official visit to France.
