Phuoc Tinh Fishing Wharf: The Seafood Hub of Southern Vietnam

Nestled in Phuoc Tinh Commune, Long Dien District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, Phuoc Tinh Fishing Wharf stands as a bustling center renowned for its vast fleet of fishing boats and the highest seafood yield in Southern Vietnam’s eastern region.

Phuoc Tinh Commune boasts over 1,200 fishing vessels, including approximately 1,100 offshore boats with engines exceeding 90 CV. Fishing is the lifeblood of Long Dien District, contributing significantly to its economy. The district’s annual aquatic product output reaches a staggering 60,000 tonnes, securing its position as the province’s top producer. This fresh seafood is highly sought-after by traders from Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces.

Daily, at the break of dawn (around 3 am), the wharf transforms into a hive of activity as fishing fleets from Phuoc Tinh, Long Hai, and neighboring provinces return from their sea voyages. Thousands of tonnes of freshly caught seafood are offloaded, with women meticulously cleaning, sorting, and selling the fish to eager merchants.

Beyond fishing, the district has witnessed the flourishing of ancillary services. Ice production, dried seafood processing, sauce making, and fuel supply have all experienced significant growth, contributing to the overall improvement in the livelihoods of the local community.
