This is the second time that goalkeeper Nguyen Filip has been selected for the Vietnamese national team.

On March 18, coach Troussier announced a list of 28 players for the two upcoming matches against Indonesia in the second round of qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Young striker Dinh Bac, 20, is among the players travelling with the team for the away match in Indonesia.

Five veteran players are not included in the list due to injuries, including Do Duy Manh, Giap Tuan Duong, Truong Tien Anh, Nguyen Hai Long, and Nguyen Cong Phuong.

Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc, who won the Vietnam Golden Ball 2023, is included in the list.

Coach Troussier and his players will return home to prepare for the second leg, which will be played on March 26 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

Vietnam are currently in second place in Group F with three points, after a 2-0 victory against the Philippines in an away game and a 1-0 loss to Iraq at home in November last year. Indonesia also has one point like the Philippines, but is at the bottom of the group due to goal difference.
