During his meeting in Ho Chi Minh City, Speaker László Kover remarked on the city’s remarkable transformation since his last visit a decade ago. He emphasized Hungary’s commitment to supporting businesses exploring opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, and expressed optimism for enhanced cooperation between local authorities and Hungarian enterprises.

Later that day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted an official welcoming ceremony for Speaker Kover, followed by bilateral talks between the two leaders.
Speaker Kover reaffirmed Hungary’s “Eastern Opening” foreign policy, identifying Vietnam as its most important partner in Southeast Asia. Both parties agreed to strengthen exchanges between parliamentary leaders, committees, and friendship groups, while also enhancing oversight of high-level agreements.
Following the talks, Speaker Kover and his delegation attended a session of the 10th sitting of Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly. That evening, Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn hosted an official banquet in honor of the Hungarian delegation.
On the same day, State President Luong Cuong received Speaker Kover. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, defense, science, education, culture, and tourism. Speaker Kover pledged Hungary’s continued support for the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and urged the EU to lift the “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood.
Speaker Kover also met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who proposed increasing bilateral trade to US$2 billion and strengthening legal frameworks for cooperation. Kover affirmed the Hungarian legislature’s support for government collaboration in formulating and finalizing the legal framework for bilateral cooperation.
