The Vietnamese Prime Minister holds discussions with his South Korean counterpart, Han Duck-soo, in Seoul on July 2. During the meeting, PM Han applauds Vietnam’s crucial role in South Korea’s external policy, including the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI).

Following the talks, the two leaders issue a joint press release and witness the signing of nine cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and South Korean ministries and agencies in various sectors, including economy, trade, investment, education, development cooperation, startup ecosystems, competition, and consumer protection.

During a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul on July 2, the leaders pledge to strengthen economic ties, aiming for a bilateral trade value of US$100 billion by 2025 and US$150 billion by 2030. PM Chinh proposes joint efforts to attract South Korean investments in key sectors such as semiconductors, digital transformation, green technology, and biotechnology.

President Yoon Suk Yeol and PM Chinh agree to enhance collaboration within ASEAN-South Korea and Mekong-South Korea mechanisms. President Yoon praises Vietnam’s role as the coordinator for ASEAN-South Korea relations and expresses his desire to elevate the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

At a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, Woo Won-shik, on July 2, both sides agree to share experiences in law-making and sustainable development. They also discuss enhancing the role of their legislatures in supporting bilateral cooperation, including achieving the goal of US$100 billion in trade turnover by 2025.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister delivers a policy speech at Seoul National University, affirming Vietnam’s willingness to cooperate closely with South Korea and further develop their comprehensive strategic partnership. He emphasizes the importance of this partnership for the happiness of both peoples and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

During a working breakfast with leaders of South Korea’s major corporations in Seoul on July 1, PM Chinh expresses his expectation for exploring and promoting new areas of cooperation, including industry, energy, finance, information technology, and medicine.

At the Vietnam-South Korea Business Forum in Seoul on July 1, 23 cooperation documents are exchanged between ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries. These documents cover various sectors, such as investment, trade, energy transition, big data, biotechnology, industrial park construction, semiconductor technology, pharmacy, aviation, logistics, information technology, mechanical engineering, smart city development, and real estate.

South Korean experts and scientists express their readiness to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence through specific projects during a working lunch with the Vietnamese leader in Seoul on July 1.

At a joint labor cooperation forum in Seoul on July 1, PM Chinh suggests that South Korea continue to take a leading role in training international human resources, including Vietnamese workers, to promote mutual benefits. He also proposes sending highly qualified South Korean experts and managers to work in Vietnam and increasing the quota for Vietnamese workers in South Korea under the Employment Permit Program (EPS) in various sectors.

During a forum on culture and tourism cooperation, PM Chinh witnesses the exchange of 10 memoranda of understanding between agencies and businesses of the two countries, covering culture, trade, and tourism. These include an agreement between the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization and four agreements between Vietnam Airlines and its partners.

On July 2, PM Chinh hosts a meeting with Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung, where he affirms the Vietnamese government’s support and commitment to providing optimal conditions for Samsung’s business investment activities in the country.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister meets with leaders of several South Korean conglomerates, including CJ Group, POSCO Holdings, the Korea Development Bank (KDB), LG Display, and Daewoo E&C, in Seoul on July 3. These companies express their desire to expand their investments in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also visits Samsung’s semiconductor cluster in Gyeonggi province, attends a ceremony marking 30 years of direct flights between Vietnam Airlines and South Korea, meets with friends who have contributed to the relationship between the two countries, and visits a Vietnamese-Korean multicultural family in Osan City.
