Xoe Thai dance, Cham pottery continues to seek UNESCO’s heritage recognition

The information was announced by Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thai Binh at a regular press conference in the fourth quarter of 2019 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held in Hanoi on January 3.

The Chief of Office Nguyen Thai Binh said that in 2019, the ministry submitted their list to the Prime Minister to decide the ranking of seven special national monuments and recognition of 27 artifacts and artifacts group as national treasures.

The practices of Then by Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups in Vietnam was officially been added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in late 2019, he added.

In 2019, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank 37 national monuments; adding 30 intangible cultural heritages in the list of national intangible cultural heritage sites.

Many monuments and landscapes continue to be invested in, helping to repair them in association with exploitation and tourism development.

At the event, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also clarified issues that the public has been interested in during recnt times, such as the film distribution licensing; continuing to handle matters related to the equitization process of Vietnam Feature Film Studio; the progress of drafting a decree on performing arts events to replace Decree 79; and the ground clearance for construction of the race track that will be used host the Formula One this year.

Also on January 3, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism introduced and organised to vote for the ten typical cultural, sports and tourism events in 2019.
