According to Tran Quoc Tuan, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation, both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have agreed to postpone the World Cup 2022 qualifiers in the Asian zone. The matches that were scheduled for March and June will be rescheduled due to the outbreak.
The match between Vietnam and Malaysia, originally planned for March 31, will now be held on October 13. Similarly, the match between Vietnam and Indonesia, originally set for June 4, will now take place on November 12. The match between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also been rescheduled from June 9 to November 17.
Vietnam is currently leading their World Cup qualifying group with 11 points after five matches, maintaining a two-point lead over Malaysia.
