The People’s Council of Thue Thien – Hue Province, which administers Hue, passed a resolution approving the price adjustment this week, it said on Friday afternoon.
The approval came against the backdrop of Vietnam’s travel industry struggling to recover after the country has controlled the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, which saw it close tourist sites, bar entry to foreigners, and ground international flights.
The price cut will be in place through July 31 but it can be subject to further change, depending on the recovery of the domestic tourism sector.
Any revision will be made by the provincial People’s Committee after reaching a consensus with the People’s Council.
The half-price policy is not stackable with other promotions already in place.
Previously, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center offered free entrance to sites in the Complex of Hue Monuments from April 30 to May 7.
The Complex of Hue Monuments, which includes relics of the former capital of Vietnam in Hue City, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
