Hieu, an Australian national based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is an exceptionally talented musician. Currently, he attends an international school in the southern metropolis, pursuing his academic endeavors alongside his passion for music.
Nguyen Le Thuyen Ha, the renowned pianist and chairwoman of the Hong Kong International Music Festival in Vietnam, led the Vietnamese contingent at the festival. She shared her insights about Hieu, praising his remarkable musical prowess. According to Ha, Hieu has previously showcased his talents at international competitions and music festivals in the United States and Malaysia, consistently securing notable awards.
However, the Hong Kong International Music Festival 2024 presented the most challenging and academically rigorous competition he had ever encountered. With over 90,000 participants in the preliminary round alone, the festival attracted an impressive global talent pool.
The final round, a true testament to the festival’s prestige, took place in Hong Kong from August 15 to 21. It brought together more than 4,000 gifted individuals from across the globe, each striving for musical excellence.
Out of the 60 first-prize winners across various categories, only 28 exceptional talents, including Hieu, were chosen to grace the stage at the closing ceremony. It was an honor bestowed upon the most outstanding performers of the festival.
During this memorable evening, Hieu delivered a captivating performance of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps,’ a timeless song originally released by The Beatles in 1968. According to Ha, Hieu has a special connection with this song, as he hopes it will spread love and unity among people worldwide.
“Hieu is an incredibly gifted young man, and he rightfully earned his place as the pride of the Vietnamese team at the festival,” Ha proudly asserted.
