Taking place at GEM Center in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the ceremony saw the attendance of a large number of tourism businesses from countries in the region.

Many Vietnamese destinations, airlines, hotels, and resorts were named among this year’s winners at the event.

Ho Chi Minh City was named Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination, while Hanoi was announced as Asia’s Leading City Break Destination.

Central Da Nang City received the Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination award, and Hoi An City in neighboring Quang Nam Province was accredited as Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination.

Moc Chau Town in northern Son La Province was honored as Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines won the titles of Asia’s Leading Airline – Economy Class and Asia’s Leading Airline Brand, while Vietravel Airlines was pronounced Asia’s Leading New Airline.

Vietravel also won the title of Asia’s Leading Tour Operator.

The nominations and awards Vietnam received this year help create the momentum for the development of Vietnamese tourism and affirm the country’s position in the industry, said Phan Van Mai, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

“Ho Chi Minh City is honored to host this prestigious event, a great opportunity to promote the beautiful nature and friendly people of Vietnam to the world,” the chairman added.

Graham Cooke, founder of the World Travel Awards, stated that Vietnam’s tourism shows a strong recovery and highlights the values ​​of its resources and identity.

World Travel Awards is the world’s leading prestigious award in the field of tourism. 

Established in 1993, the annual event recognizes, rewards, and celebrates top performers in all areas of the global tourism industry.

This is the second time Vietnam has been selected to host the gala ceremony after the event was held on Phu Quoc Island off southern Kien Giang Province in 2019.
