VietNamNet captured pictures of business owners cleaning and reorganizing their establishments filled the streets of Hoi An to prepare for the reopening on November 15.

Mr. Dang Bao (39, Tran Phu Street) and his crew began cleaning leather products packed for over six months at his business as soon as they learned that the city had reopened its doors to visitors.

Due to the protracted shutdown, the shop’s four staff took turns cleaning and refreshing long-stored merchandise. All leather pieces must be cleaned carefully to avoid damage. “We will finish cleaning and displaying by the 14th to welcome people back,” Mr. Bao said.

In a nearby clothing store, initial measures were being taken to collect light bulbs and clean shelves for apparel and shoes, tables and chairs.

One of the store employees, Kieu Oanh, remarked that she and her coworkers were excited to hear that the tourist attraction will be reopened. Having been out of work for six months, Oanh was thrilled to be back at work doing what she enjoys and making money after spending so much time at home.

The city will be accessible starting on November 15, said Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of The Center for Culture, Sports, Radio & Television of Hoi An, in an interview with VietNamNet.

“The damaged streetlights and bulbs are being repaired. Tourists will be able to scan QR codes installed at the city’s entrances to get information about the city. For the first time in months, all of Hoi An’s businesses have been urged to reopen simultaneously in an effort to bring the city back to its pre-pandemic vigor. Tourist attractions are also discounted by 50%.” Ms. Cam said.

Concerns have also been raised about the difficulty of restoring Hoi An because of its numerous entrances and exits, making it impossible to supervise visitors. Despite this, the city decided to go ahead and open with disease prevention in accordance with legislation and safety standards.

Mrs. Cam’s disquiet stems from the fact that this is the first time that Hoi An has pre-registered international tourists and assigned a tour guide based on their itinerary, so there will be a lot of issues. “The safety of our guests is always our top priority.”

Now, artisan communities like Thanh Ha pottery village and the Bay Mau coconut grove are ready to welcome tourists back.

Presently, artisan communities such as Thanh Ha pottery village, Bay Mau coconut forest, and Cu Lao Cham tourist area are all accessible to tourists.

For domestic tourists, the route will be separated into three stages in the near future, focused on welcoming visitors within Hoi An and its bordering provinces and towns, according to Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

A ‘tourist bubble’ will be piloted in Quang Nam by the end of November as a way to bring in tourists from around the country. The area will extend to early 2022 to allow guests to explore and travel.

During the month of November, Quang Nam will begin welcoming foreign tourists to chosen localities and tourism service enterprises through package trip programs.

There will be further expansion of tourism destinations, attractions, service providers in Phase 2, in January 2022. On-site quarantine facilities have been established in hotels to ensure the safety of visitors upon arrival.

International tourists will be able to visit Hoi An during Phase 3 of the project. The pandemic situation will dictate how long this will take.
