Ho Chi Minh City’s Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is dazzling locals and tourists alike this Christmas with its stunning LED light display. Covering the entire cathedral, the 500,000 meters of lights create a sparkling spectacle that has become a must-see attraction in the heart of the city.

For the second consecutive year, the cathedral restoration committee has chosen to adorn the iconic building with LED lights for the festive season, and the results are truly magical.

A significant upgrade from last year’s display, where 80,000 meters of LED lights adorned the two 60-meter-high bell towers, this year’s display covers the entire cathedral, creating an even more breathtaking sight.

Located in the bustling center of Ho Chi Minh City, the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica has long been a drawcard for locals and international visitors alike. People flock to admire its architectural beauty and capture memorable moments with their loved ones against the stunning backdrop.

Originally constructed by French colonists between 1863 and 1880 and named the Church of Saigon, the cathedral has been a prominent feature of the city’s landscape for over a century. In 1959, it was renamed the Notre-Dame Cathedral, reflecting its significance and beauty.

Undergoing a major restoration project since July 1, 2017, the cathedral is in the capable hands of the Belgian contractor Group Monument. The project focuses primarily on the two 58-meter-high bell towers and zinc spires, which have suffered the most damage over the years.
