The celebration of three decades of diplomatic ties between Croatia and Vietnam brought together a diverse crowd, including representatives from both governments, the Vietnamese diplomatic delegation, businesses, and the local community.

The event, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1994-2024), was a vibrant gathering with the participation of the Croatian ministry, Zagreb city officials, and the Vietnamese community in both Hungary and Croatia.

Attendees were treated to a cultural feast, with Vietnamese musical performances and traditional Croatian dances, as well as a delicious showcase of Vietnamese cuisine. The event also featured an exhibition of photos and videos highlighting the strong bond between the two nations and their people.

Typical Vietnamese handicrafts and agricultural products were on display, offering a glimpse into Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage. Additionally, there were business networking opportunities, further strengthening the economic ties between the countries.

Petar Mihatov, Special Envoy of the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, emphasized the shared history of the nations, noting their similar paths of fighting for independence and their efforts in nation-building. He highlighted the good political and diplomatic relations that have developed over the years, as well as the potential for tourism cooperation and exchanges in culture, education, sports, and people-to-people connections.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary and Croatia, Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening ties with traditional friends in the Balkans, with Croatia being a key priority. She expressed her belief in the potential for expanded cooperation in various fields, including food processing, logistics, clean energy, high technology, digital economy, and medicine, where both nations have complementary strengths.

The event also marked the nomination of an Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Croatia, further solidifying the diplomatic relationship. The launch of the Vietnamese community liaison committee in Croatia added to the significance of the occasion, fostering closer connections within the community.
