The provincial government hosted a press conference on Tuesday, announcing the highly anticipated Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week. This year, the week-long celebration will commence on November 28 and conclude on December 4, as shared by Nguyen Thanh Thanh, the director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
According to Thanh, this year’s festivities will encompass 11 flagship events. These include an opening ceremony and a tourism promotion conference, joined by Ho Chi Minh City and 13 Mekong Delta provinces. The conference will also showcase the One Commune One Product initiative, highlighting the region’s diverse offerings.
Among the week’s attractions is the Long An – South Korea Trade and Culinary Fair, offering a unique blend of cultural exchange and delicious cuisine. There will also be dedicated areas for cultural interactions, sports competitions, and a music festival, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Hoang Dinh Can, who leads the provincial Commission for Propaganda and Education, emphasized the expanded scope of this year’s edition. It boasts a broader agenda with an increased number of sports tournaments and significant collaborations with South Korea. This partnership aims to showcase the cultural richness of Long An while also celebrating South Korean regional heritage.
South Korea assumes a pivotal role in the trade fair, occupying nearly a third of the 300 booths present. Their involvement extends to the Long An – South Korea Friendship Golf Tournament, with many South Korean golfers set to participate. South Korean businesses and music bands will also grace the ‘HITE JINRO FESTIVAL 2024,’ adding to the week’s excitement.
South Korea is a prominent FDI investor in Long An, currently ranking third with over US$1 billion invested across 216 projects.
Thanh also outlined a range of sporting events scheduled throughout the week. These include a marathon in the Waterpoint Ben Luc urban area, the Long An Open Bodybuilding Championship, martial arts displays, and an inaugural three-plank boat race on the Vam Co River—a natural landmark synonymous with the province.
With these diverse programs and a packed schedule, Thanh expressed confidence in the province’s ability to accommodate around one million visitors during this celebratory week.
