An extravagant event, with 350 guests in attendance, including government officials, artists, celebrities, and industry experts, set the stage for a vibrant celebration of fashion, culture, and heritage.
The collection, featuring over 60 exquisite designs, transformed the catwalk into an elegant soirée. Each piece was a masterpiece in its own right, with intricate details and a unique blend of traditional and modern aesthetics.
The show drew inspiration from Vietnam’s iconic Le Mur ao dai, the country’s traditional long gown, as well as the enchanting melodies of don ca tai tu music and the cinematic allure of ‘The Bac Lieu Playboy’. It was a beautiful tribute to Vietnam’s rich artistic legacy.
Thuy Nguyen, the fashion house’s founder and creative director, described the collection as a love letter to her audience. With each design, she evoked the charm and vibrancy of 1920s and 1930s Vietnam, creating a timeless and captivating collection.
Ru ho xu xang xe cong was divided into three acts, each with its own unique story to tell.
Act I: A Vibrant Opening
The show commenced with a stunning backdrop of crimson velvet curtains and sparkling chandeliers, setting the tone for an enchanting evening. Models, including movie star Kaity Nguyen, beauty queen Le Hang, and singer Song Luan, graced the runway in contemporary interpretations of the classic ao dai. Bold geometric patterns, ruffled details, and dynamic color palettes added a modern twist to this traditional garment, showcasing the vibrant cultural intersections of Vietnam’s past and present.
Act II: The Elegance of Le Mur Revival
The second act delved deeper into the elegance and sophistication of the Le Mur ao dai. Ethereal designs with ombré hues, floral prints, and flattering silhouettes took center stage, celebrating both tradition and innovation. Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 Doan Thien An and Lam Bich Tuyen, 3rd runner-up at Miss Grand Vietnam 2024, added a touch of glamour to the showcase, embodying timeless grace and sophistication in their updated ao dai looks.
Act III: A Tribute to Cai Luong
The final act was a celebration of cai luong, the operatic art form of southern Vietnamese folk opera. Dazzling designs adorned with intricate beading, luxurious fabrics, and luminous embellishments took center stage. Models, including Miss International 2024 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, evoked the grandeur and drama of this traditional performance art, striding down the runway with poise and elegance. The descending lanterns at the end of the show illuminated the essence of Vietnam’s heritage, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Music director Addy Tran’s masterful combination of modern soundscapes and traditional melodies created an emotional crescendo that lingered long after the show’s finale. Thuy Nguyen, resplendent in her own design, took her final bow with her muses, thanking the audience for their support and appreciation.
