The renowned cellist Reinhard Armleder and pianist Dagmar Hartmann, known as the Karlsruhe duo, are set to enchant audiences in Vietnam with their captivating performances. According to a press release by the embassy last Friday, the duo is coordinating with them to plan their upcoming concerts in Hanoi, Hue City, and Binh Duong Province.
The concerts will feature a delightful mix of classical music from different corners of the globe and across various eras. The repertoire includes masterpieces by legendary composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Schumann, César Franck, Maurice Ravel, and Manuel de Falla.
Music enthusiasts in Vietnam will have the opportunity to witness these extraordinary performances at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) in Hanoi on Tuesday, the Hue Music Academy on Thursday, and the German-Vietnamese University in Binh Duong on Friday. All three concerts are open to the public free of charge.
In addition to their performances, the duo is dedicated to nurturing young Vietnamese musical talents. They will be conducting master classes for VNAM students on Wednesday, sharing their expertise and guiding the next generation of musicians.
Classical music has long been celebrated as a powerful medium for cultural exchange, and the embassy recognizes the significant contribution that the duo’s tour will make to strengthening the bonds between Germany and Vietnam.
Since their debut in 1999, the Karlsruhe concert duo has attained remarkable success, both in their home country of Germany and on the international stage. They have consistently excelled in prestigious competitions, claiming first prizes in Italy and France, among other accolades.
Their performances have taken them to over 80 countries, gracing renowned venues and festivals. From the Beethoven Society in Washington, D.C. to the Schubert Society in London, the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, and beyond, the duo has left their mark on the world of classical music.
This year, their international tour has already taken them to several destinations, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Kenya, Uganda, and Portugal, with upcoming performances in Cape Verde, Malta, and Namibia.
