The ‘Flowers Blossom – Flowers in Eastern Ceramics Art’ exhibition, featuring ancient artifacts, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday and will run until the end of March.

This captivating display is one of many spring-welcoming initiatives at the museum.

The ceramic antiquities on show span centuries, from the 11th century to the early 20th century, encompassing the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen Dynasties.

These ancient ceramics showcase intricate motifs of flowers representing the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The flowers depicted include apricot blossom, peach blossom, peony, lotus, orchid, chrysanthemum, cedar, and the phyllostachys plant, an Asian bamboo genus.

The artifacts take the form of jars, urns, flasks, vases, bottles, and plates, each piece a testament to the artistry of its respective era. They are presented under four distinct seasonal themes, offering a journey through time and nature’s beauty.

The springtime vitality is embodied in ceramics showcasing apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, and peonies, a vibrant celebration of new life.

Summer makes its presence known through ceramic pieces embellished with lotus and orchid designs, evoking a sense of warmth and growth.

Chrysanthemums, the quintessential autumn symbol, grace the ceramic designs of the season. Their golden hues mirror the changing leaves, while their scent fills the air with a crisp, cool breeze.

Similarly, depictions of cedars and phyllostachys plants on ceramics capture the serene beauty of winter, inviting a sense of calm and reflection.

“Through this exhibition, we aim to provide a platform for visitors to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of ancient artisans while celebrating the rich heritage of ceramic art in the East,” shared Hoang Anh Tuan, the museum’s director.
