This event was part of a series of activities to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the formation and development of the city, as well as Da Lat’s recognition as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music.

During the cultural exchange, artists from Da Lat and Chuncheon showcased traditional cultural and artistic performances, aiming to promote the cultural heritage of each country and locality.

In his speech, Dang Quang Tu, Chairman of the Da Lat city People’s Committee, highlighted the friendly relationship between Da Lat and Chuncheon, which was established in 2016 and further strengthened by the twinning relationship in 2019. Tu mentioned that the two cities have successfully carried out various exchange and cooperation activities, including friendly visits and the exchange of delegations. Additionally, many students from Da Lat have had the opportunity to study at universities in Chuncheon city.

He emphasized that the cultural and art exchange event will enhance solidarity and friendship between the two cities, providing an opportunity for Da Lat residents and tourists to gain a deeper understanding of Korean culture and its people, while also allowing the people of Chuncheon to learn more about Da Lat’s rich cultural heritage.

Yook Dong Han, Mayor of Chuncheon city, expressed his hopes for continued cultural and art exchanges in the future, involving not only professional artists but also the general public of both cities. He believes that the annual Korean-Vietnamese cultural exchange in Da Lat city is a significant event that promotes mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

According to the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee, the province received 8.65 million tourists in 2023, including 400,000 foreign visitors, marking a 167% increase compared to the previous year. Da Lat city, in particular, experienced a significant rise in the number of foreign visitors, with Koreans accounting for 80% of the total.
