National team captain Que Ngoc Hai delivered an impressive performance, scoring the opening goal and leading his club to victory. The round of 16 game took place at Long Xuyen Stadium in An Giang Province, drawing a crowd of nearly 10,000 spectators and increasing the pressure on the visiting team. However, Viettel, a military-owned club, proved to be too strong for An Giang. Despite multiple attacks from Viettel right after the kick-off, their players failed to convert their chances. Khac Ngoc’s shot from outside the box hit the woodwork 38 minutes into the match, while Nham Manh Dung’s powerful left-footed shot hit the bar seven minutes later. Viettel continued to miss opportunities until defender Hai stepped up. In the 70th minute, Hai fired a long-range shot that deflected off Dung’s head and found the back of the net. Eight minutes later, Viettel secured a second goal when Khac Ngoc’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper before Quang Khai quickly headed in the rebound. This victory earned Viettel a spot in the quarterfinals. Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Than Quang Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City have also secured their place in the quarterfinals. The remaining four spots will be determined in the eight games scheduled for Sunday. Furthermore, you can stay updated on the latest news about Vietnam by following us on Facebook or Twitter.
