Contestants will have the opportunity to compete in both professional and non-professional groups. The non-professional group is specifically for candidates of all nationalities who are not pursuing a piano major from professional music institutions such as the Conservatory of Music, Music Academies, Culture and Arts Colleges, or Universities with piano majors.
All repertoires must strictly consist of classical music and cannot include styles such as Jazz, Blue, Broadway, Semi-Classical, or Pop Music.
Furthermore, all pieces must be performed from memory without sheet music.
The pieces played in different rounds cannot be identical, except for works of tables B, C, and D of the non-professional group, which can be repeated from round 1 to round 2. The duration of each piece must be noted in the registration form.
The judging panel will consist of prestigious pianists, lecturers, and professors from both Vietnam and other countries.
The competition is scheduled to take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music from July 6 to July 9.
Trang Trinh’s musical dream
Pianist Trinh Mai Trang (also known as Trang Trinh) graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has a long list of international prizes and has all the criteria needed to flourish on the Western stage but she chose to come back to her fatherland to realize the dream of bringing classical music to the masses in her own way.
