The exhibition, co-organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hanoi and the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Netherlands diplomatic ties. It is an excellent opportunity to explore the rich cultural history between the two countries and to strengthen their bond. Visitors to the exhibition will have the chance to view a wide variety of displays, from traditional paintings to modern sculptures, and to gain insight into the unique relationship between the two nations.

Sixty-nine exquisite works of art created by 66 master Dutch painters from the collection of Rijksmuseum, the national museum of the Netherlands, are being showcased at the exhibition in a hybrid format that combines fine printing on silk and digital projection. These pieces of art are sure to leave viewers in awe!

Art aficionados and visitors to the exhibition can delight in classic works from the Dutch Golden Age, spanning from the late 16th century to the 17th century, including self-portraits of Vincent van Gogh and masterpieces by Cornelis van Haarlem, Frans Hals, and Rembrandt van Rijn.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, Kees van Baar, expressed his delight in introducing the public of the Vietnamese capital city to the masterpieces of Dutch fine art. He was truly pleased with the opportunity.

The Dutch ambassador told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that: “These works of art are our national treasures and we are eager to share them with our dear friend Vietnam.”

Vietnam and the Netherlands officially established their diplomatic relations on April 9th, 1973. The two countries have since worked together to foster mutual understanding and cooperation. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, both countries have sought to strengthen their economic, political, and cultural ties, and to promote greater cooperation and dialogue.

The Netherlands is a pioneering Western nation when it comes to diplomatic ties and development aid to Vietnam. Establishing strong links between the two countries, the Netherlands has been at the forefront of providing much-needed support and assistance for Vietnam’s growth and progress. This has helped generate numerous opportunities for both countries, and has laid the foundation for a strong and prosperous partnership in the future.

Regarding the “Blooming Light, Soaking Light” exhibition, it will be open from May 26 to June 11, 2023 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, located at No. 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.
