Born Vo Giap in Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, in the central province of Quang Binh on August 25, 1911, he led the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to a glorious victory. This triumph, etched in history, united the Vietnamese Party, army, and people in their resistance against French colonialists from 1945 to 1954.
The resounding victory at Dien Bien Phu shook the world, forcing the French colonialists to negotiate and ultimately sign the Geneva Accords in July 1954, bringing an end to their rule and paving the way for a new era of revolution in Indochina.
