The week of October 21-27 in Hanoi and HCM City saw a series of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam’s theatre. The activities included a seminar on the current state of Vietnam’s theatre and possible solutions to improve it.

The head of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, People’s Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, spoke at the event and highlighted the importance of honoring the efforts and contributions of the predecessors in the field of theatre.

The celebration of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam’s theatre reflects the hope of stage artists for the recovery of the sector after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Particularly, there is optimism for the resumption of theatrical activities in major cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and HCM City.

The gala event provided an opportunity for the audience to interact with renowned artists such as writer Chu Lai and People’s Artists Doan Hoang Giang and Thu Ha. The event also featured performances from famous plays.

Furthermore, the occasion was used to honor 10 outstanding veteran artists for their contributions to the field of theatre.
