The Municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a press briefing on Friday morning to provide information about the activities taking place within the framework of the festival this year. Attendees were given an overview of the various events and programs that will be held, as well as an introduction to the teams and organizations involved in the organization of the festival. Representatives of the department also highlighted the importance of the event and the positive impact it has on the local community. The briefing concluded with a discussion of the various ways in which citizens can get involved in the fest and contribute to its success.

The 10th edition of the festival, themed ‘Preserving and Promoting the Values of Southern Folk Cakes’, will feature nearly 300 booths introducing folk cakes from 22 different localities in Vietnam. This event is a great opportunity to explore the culture and values behind these traditional baked goods.

The festival will not feature any booths of foreign artisans.

It is anticipated that this edition of the event will draw in one million visitors, an increase of 200,000 from the ninth edition which was held last year.

The festival will feature more night-time activities, including folk cake-making games, an ao dai (Vietnamese traditional costume) performance, art performance programs, as well as other captivating activities, Nguyen Minh Tuan, director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said at the press conference.

The city also mandated that a hot-air balloon festival be linked to the folk cake event, Tuan noted.

The festival last year attracted 800,000 visitors, resulting in an influx of over VND4 trillion (US$170.6 million) to Can Tho’s tourism industry, according to The Saigon Times.
