From traditional folk cakes to modern desserts, the festival will feature a variety of sweet treats for visitors to enjoy. There will also be a variety of activities and entertainment, including live music, traditional dance performances, cooking demonstrations, and more. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience the unique culture and flavors of the Mekong Delta!
The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism held a press briefing on Friday morning to unveil activities taking place during this year’s festivities.
The 10th edition of the festival, themed ‘Preserving and Promoting the Values of Southern Folk Cakes’, will feature almost 300 booths introducing folk cakes from 22 different localities in Vietnam. This is a unique opportunity to explore and celebrate the culture and tastes of the southern regions of the country.
The stunning festival will not feature any booths of international artisans.
It is anticipated that the tenth edition of the event will draw one million visitors, a 200,000-person increase from the preceding edition.
The festival will feature more night-time activities, including folk cake-making games, an ao dai (Vietnamese traditional costume) performance, art performance programs, and much more, Nguyen Minh Tuan, director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said at the press conference.
The bustling city of Tuan mandated that a hot-air balloon festival be held in conjunction with the folk cake event, adding to the festivities.
The festival last year attracted 800,000 visitors, injecting over VND4 trillion (US$170.6 million) into Can Tho’s tourism industry, The Saigon Times reported.
