Festival to feature national intangible cultural heritage opens

NDO – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Tuyen Quang People's Committee to open “Le hoi Thanh Tuyen” (Tuyen Quang City Festival) and festival on performing national intangible cultural heritage, in Tuyen Quang City, on September 12.

This year’s festival features the participation of more than 700 artisans, professional actors and the masses; performing 12 heritages.

The event was attended by Politburo members: Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong; Members of the Party Central Committee: Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Chau Van Lam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, on behalf of Party and State leaders, Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh praised the participation of artisans and actors from 11 provinces who gathered in Tuyen Quang to honour the values of the cultural heritage of the nation.

He suggested the ministries, branches and localities continue to focus on and pay more attention to the preservation and promotion of the good values of the national culture, the diversity and cultural identities of ethnic groups; continuing to build cultural values appropriate to the new era in the context of information development; promoting the role of cultural subjects in preserving and promoting the traditional culture of ethnic groups; and creating the best conditions to improve the beneficiary level and participate in cultural creation activities of the Vietnamese ethnic community.

He also asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to research the activities of the Festival on performing national intangible cultural heritage into the joint programme of the Ministry, and together with provinces and cities nationwide organise and maintain activities annually in many different localities, contributing to promoting the preservation and promotion of the national intangible cultural heritage treasure; harmonising the preservation and promotion of the values of ethnic cultural heritages with the activities of economic development, taking community tourism as the centre.

The festival runs until September 14.
