The exhibition is a collaboration between the Consulate General of Italy in HCM City, Patron Art Space, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. It is part of a series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy.
The exhibition showcases 30 works by two contemporary Vietnamese artists, offering a unique portrayal of Italy’s natural and cultural heritage.
Khanh’s paintings draw inspiration from the colors found in Italian oil paintings and frescoes, as well as the interplay of light and shadow in Italian architecture. His work also captures the country’s breathtaking landscapes.
As a self-taught artist, Khanh is currently the Chairman of the International Watercolor Association in Vietnam. He has exhibited his artwork in Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Chiang Mai, Thailand, and has curated the first International Watercolor Painting Exhibition in Vietnam in 2015. Additionally, he has served as a jury member for the International Watercolor Competition in Turkey and India in 2017. Khanh’s paintings can be found in the Hue Museum of Fine Arts, HCM City Museum of Fine Arts, Krabi Museum, and Chiang Mai Museum in Thailand.
Thuy’s paintings capture the beauty of nature in Italy, including the colors of the sky, the shapes of trees, and the reflections in water. Thuy, a graduate of the HCM City University of Architecture, has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad, including the 2015 International Watercolor Group Exhibition in Indonesia and the fourth Silk Road International Arts Festival in China in 2017. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition titled “Thuy Khuc” (The Song of Thuy) in HCM City.
The organizers will also host an art tour and a talk with the exhibition’s curator, Le Pham Ngoc Minh, on July 7 from 10am to 12pm. The exhibition will be open until July 9 at LAGarden Restaurant in Thu Thiem, Thu Duc City.
