The festival is being jointly held by the Vietnam Association for the Promotion and Development of Cinema, authorities of Da Nang, and the Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ngo Phuong Lan, director of the Vietnam Cinema Department, stated that the festival’s theme ‘DANAFF – Bridging Asia’ focuses on celebrating films that embody humanistic values, unique artistic expression, and new discoveries. It also encourages new Vietnamese and Asian talents in the industry, while presenting valuable works from Asian and Vietnamese cinemas as well as selected global films to audiences.

Visitors to the fascinating festival can enjoy a variety of events, including a free public screening of 89 films, a thrilling three-evening outdoor film screening, and a series of workshops on the development and cooperation of the cinema industry.
It also offers guided tours to local sightseeing spots and attractions for foreign participants.

The event was attended by a host of celebrities, dignitaries, and representatives from the film industry. The jury board is comprised of renowned directors, actors, and producers from the region, who will be selecting the best films for the festival.Additionally, the festival will feature 12 to 14 films competing in the Asian film category, with grand prizes for best movie, director, actor, actress, and screenwriter.
The event will continue until May 13th, with the awards ceremony and the closing ceremony taking place concurrently.
