Downtown Ho Chi Minh City was abuzz on Monday evening as locals and tourists alike gathered to witness the spectacular fireworks display in celebration of Vietnam’s 79th National Day.

With the event scheduled for 9:00 p.m., people packed the roads and parks surrounding the promenade, all vying for the best vantage points to view the upcoming spectacle. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation.

To ensure the safety of the large crowds and facilitate the smooth running of the event, road closures were implemented from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This allowed pedestrians to spill onto the streets and fill the main thoroughfares, including Ton Duc Thang, Ham Nghi, and Le Loi in District 1, as well as Nguyen Tat Thanh and Ben Van Don in the neighboring District 4.

It was a festive atmosphere, with families picnicking and enjoying dinners while awaiting the main event. The Voice of Vietnam reported a notable presence of families with young children who had traveled from further districts to join in the celebrations.

As the clock struck nine, the night sky erupted in a brilliant display of color. High-altitude fireworks illuminated the city, set off from the end of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc, a satellite city of Ho Chi Minh. Simultaneously, low-altitude fireworks painted the sky above the Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 with vibrant hues.

The 15-minute pyrotechnic display was a sight to behold, with many spectators capturing the moment on their cell phones to immortalize the memorable evening. The drones added a unique touch, creating colorful images and patriotic messages in the sky, including the Party and national flags of Vietnam.

Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street further amplified the festivities with a lively concert before and after the fireworks, ensuring the celebrations continued long into the night.
