The exhibition, titled Continuum: Vietnam — A Photographic Odyssey Through Time and Transformation, showcases Mark Soloman’s three-decade-long visual narrative of Vietnam’s evolution. From 1992 to 1993, as Vietnam stepped out of seclusion, Soloman embarked on a journey from Hanoi’s historic lanes to secluded highlands and coastal communities, captivated by the enduring spirit and aspirations of its people. Three decades later, he revisits these individuals, inviting them to hold their portraits from years past, creating a poignant bridge between eras.

His photographs transcend mere imagery, encapsulating heartfelt moments shared with his subjects while chronicling the nation’s profound social, environmental, and cultural metamorphosis over thirty years. Archival black-and-white photographs stand alongside contemporary portraits, fostering a visual dialogue between Vietnam’s past and present.

Visitors witness not only the passage of time etched upon familiar faces but also the intricate interplay between tradition and modernity that defines Vietnam’s enduring identity. The exhibition opens November 1 and continues through November 30 at 1st Floor, 2 Le Thai To Street, Hanoi.
