An Lac village buzzes with activity as vehicles rush to deliver the famous *banh in* to eager customers. While only a handful of households continue the tradition, their dedication ensures a delicious supply for the community.
At Tuong Vi shop, a hardworking team of four, led by 62-year-old Huynh Quang Trung, owner, work tirelessly to meet the high demand for these tasty treats. With production starting in the middle of the 11th lunar month, the team often works until late into the evening to keep up with orders.

“Our village has a long tradition of making *banh in* for the Tet holiday,” shared Trung. “We work tirelessly to ensure that families can include our cakes in their ancestral offerings. We’re proud to produce over 100 kilograms of cakes each day to meet the demand.”
Trung’s family alone produces three to four metric tons of *banh in* annually, with each pack selling for VND20,000-30,000 ($0.8-$1.2). Their hard work pays off, earning them a profit of VND20-30 million ($797.5-1,196) each year.

The secret to their delicious *banh in* lies in the ingredients: glutinous rice flour, mung beans, sugar, and a touch of vanilla. The glutinous rice is carefully roasted and transformed into a fine powder, then skillfully mixed with mung bean flour and sugar. Most of the mixing is now done with machines, doubling their production capacity.
According to Nguyen Mat, the 63-year-old owner of Thanh Van shop, “The use of machines has revolutionized our craft. We can now produce twice as many cakes as we could by hand.”
Of the many varieties of *banh in*, the mung bean version is the most beloved. Its sweet and fragrant flavor evokes childhood memories of Tet celebrations.
The *banh in* crafted in An Lac Village are a beloved treat across Quang Nam and the neighboring city of Da Nang. They represent a delicious piece of local culture and a simple pleasure that brings joy to people of all ages.
