It is famous for the Huong (Perfume) River, which flows through the heart of Hue City and adds a poetic and lyrical beauty to the city. Hue is home to numerous historic sites, including the ornate Imperial Citadel, royal tombs, Thanh Toan Bridge, and the Forbidden Purple City.

Other Vietnamese destinations recognized by TripAdvisor in the Trending Destinations category include Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, ranking third, and Sa Pa Town in Lao Cai Province, ranking fifth. Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its limestone islands, rock formations, and caves, which have been shaped by wind and water over centuries. Visitors can explore its beauty by renting a kayak or taking a tour. Sa Pa Town provides a peaceful oasis amidst the mountains and rice paddies, and features a Gothic stone church that reflects the town’s French influence. Visitors are recommended to enjoy Vietnamese or European-inspired cuisine downtown and experience the Saturday night “love market.”
