The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue, among others.
At the opening ceremony, an attractive arts programme featured various performances by 110 artisans and professional and amateur actors as well as actresses from Dao, Giay, Ha Nhi, Mong, Thai and Lu ethnic minority groups in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau; as well as artists from the Vietnam National Opera and Dance Theatre.
Notably, the daily life, festivals, wedding ceremonies and other spiritual activities of ethnic minority people in the locality were also reproduced, a highlight of the event.
The Lai Chau Cultural and Tourism Week is taking place at the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake from December 18-20.
Hanoi’s people and visitors alike will have a chance to enjoy traditional songs and dances as well as experience the folk games and handicrafts of Lai Chau.
In addition, an art photo exhibition and pavilions introducing tours of Lai Chau and nearly 100 special products under the One Commune – One Product programme have also been arranged.
A seminar themed “Orientation for Lai Chau – Hanoi tourism linkage” will also be held on the occasion.
