The World Youth Orchestra Foundation’s musical project, “Sounds of Brotherhood,” culminates in a series of vibrant events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from August 29 to September 29, as announced by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi.
Kicking off this exciting finale is a unique Italian-Vietnamese musical collaboration on August 31 in Ho Chi Minh City. Talented underprivileged Vietnamese children will take center stage, accompanied by a captivating body painting performance by artist Francesca Chialà .
Hanoi will then host the prestigious “Call for Projects” award ceremony on September 5, recognizing exceptional Vietnamese artists across visual arts, music, and theater at the Vicas Arts Studio. The celebrations will reach their peak with an immersive theater workshop, “Sound Dialogues,” on September 7 in the capital, offering a unique blend of performing arts and cultural exchange.

“Sounds of Brotherhood” is the foundation’s latest initiative, launched in 2001. In Vietnam, the project spans nine months, from January to September 2024, encompassing diverse art forms. These include musical performances, theater workshops, art exhibitions, and a celebration of Italian poetic language.

Music, theater, and art are the heart and soul of this project, fostering peaceful dialogue and strengthening the bond between Italy and Vietnam. It also provides a platform for young Vietnamese artists to showcase their talent and receive support for their artistic endeavors.
Adolfo Vannucci, President of the World Youth Orchestra Foundation, shared the orchestra’s mission: “We aim to bring messages of friendship, brotherhood, and peace to Vietnam through music and art. We are thrilled to collaborate with young artists and engage the public in this complex and beautiful world of art education.”

Marco della Seta, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted the initiative’s impact: “The ‘Sounds of Brotherhood’ project has fostered incredible cultural synergies between Italy and Vietnam. I am confident that the upcoming events will further strengthen the already excellent cultural relations between our nations.”
With a proud history of 23 years, the World Youth Orchestra has achieved a global reach, representing 75 countries, collaborating with 300 international partner universities, and involving 3,500 talented individuals. Their events have attracted over 10 million attendees worldwide, leaving a lasting impression through music and cultural exchange.
