THE HANOI TIMES — On September 18, the Vietnam–Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace in Hanoi was filled with emotion as residents gathered for “Grateful for Parents 2025.” This poignant art program celebrated the enduring bond between parents and children, weaving together tradition and heartfelt tributes to family values.
Organized by Kinh te & Do thi (Economic & Urban) Newspaper, Phu nu Viet Nam (Vietnamese Women) Newspaper, and Oscar Media, the event honored the sacred relationship between generations—a cornerstone of Vietnamese culture. Through powerful performances, the program left an indelible mark on its audience.

Since its inception in 2017, the annual event has become a cherished tradition during the Vu Lan season, a time dedicated to filial piety observed in the 7th lunar month, which fell in September this year.

Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (third from right), presented flowers to the Organizing Board in recognition of their efforts.

Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Board, delivered an inspiring opening speech.

He emphasized that filial piety is not merely a moral obligation but a timeless virtue deeply ingrained in the Vietnamese spirit.

He further noted that honoring one’s parents extends to expressing gratitude toward ancestors and those who sacrificed for the nation’s peace and independence.

The “Grateful for Parents 2025” program garnered significant public attention, resonating deeply with attendees.

Diva My Linh captivated the audience with heartfelt renditions of “Mother’s Lullaby” and “Mother’s Legend,” evoking deep emotions.

Renowned singer Phuong Thanh enchanted the crowd with her sweet and soulful voice, adding to the evening’s emotional depth.

American singer Kyo York delivered a touching cross-cultural performance, honoring fathers with his flawless Vietnamese and powerful vocals.

Each performance deeply moved the audience, creating an atmosphere of reflection and gratitude.

During the show, an audience member shared a heartfelt expression of love and devotion to her parents, further amplifying the event’s emotional impact.

The program conveyed a powerful message: cherish and honor your parents while you still can, as their presence is a precious gift.

Beyond its immediate impact, the event inspired gratitude and fostered a sense of love and compassion throughout the community.
