Hanoi is set to host nearly 20 cultural and artistic events during the 2024 Independence Day celebrations, which will take place from August 31 to September 3, as announced by the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

The long weekend provides both locals and visitors with a diverse range of cultural activities, all while enjoying the crisp autumn weather that Hanoi is renowned for.

One of the key events is the “Ao Dai Connecting Tourism with Hanoi Heritage” program, which will take place on September 1 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, as well as various streets in the districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Long Bien.

During this significant national holiday, the Hanoi Department of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board will be providing around 28,000 free light meals, including water, milk, and snacks, to both local and foreign tourists visiting this iconic historical site.

The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will be hosting the “Celebrating Independence Day” program from August 31 to September 3, with a range of accompanying exhibitions, fairs, and art performances taking place across the city.

The “Network for Sustainable Production and Consumption of the Ceramics Industry Chain 2024” will be held at the Kim Lan Ceramics Museum and the Kim Lan Tourism Site in Gia Lam District from August 29 to 31. This event takes place just outside the city, offering a slightly different perspective on Hanoi’s cultural offerings.

For those interested in the literary arts, the exhibition “Nghien But Con Thom” (“Ink Still Smells Fresh”) will be held at the Temple of Literature in Dong Da District from August 31 to September 25. Additionally, a free puppet show will delight audiences at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on September 1 and 2, with two showtimes each day.

The Wonderland Festival, taking place from August 31 to September 3, will have its main events on September 1 and 2 at Bao Son Paradise Park in Hoai Duc District. On September 2, the “Quintessence of Tonkin” program will present a special fireworks display at Tuan Chau Beach Park in Quoc Oai District.

As an added bonus, visitors will be able to take advantage of free tickets for the Hanoi City Tour double-decker bus service from September 1 to 4.

Meanwhile, tourist attractions and pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter of Hoan Kiem District will extend their operating hours from 7 pm to midnight daily during the Independence Day holiday, from August 30 to September 3.

Special art performances to commemorate National Day will also grace open-air cultural centers in Thanh Oai, Me Linh, Thuong Tin, Nam Tu Liem, and Hoan Kiem.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department, assured that all relevant units have been instructed to ensure well-organized and safe activities, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for visitors during this Independence Day holiday.
