The movie showcases the complexities of human relationships in the bustling city of Hanoi. Its characters include a young rural shoeshine boy, an elderly couple, and a musician who teaches a choir of blind children.
With the theme “Cinema – Humanity, Adaptation, and Development”, the festival organized by the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture aims to honor outstanding international and Vietnamese films that possess artistic excellence, humanistic values, and innovative cinematic language.
The closing night ceremony, where awards will be presented, will take place at the prestigious Friendship Palace on 91 Tran Hung Dao street.
The festival is expected to bring together 800 delegates from around the world. A total of 123 submissions from 50 countries and territories will compete in various categories, including short films, feature films, world panorama, and national cinema.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ta Quang Dong, highlighted at a press conference in Hanoi on October 20 that the festival comes at a crucial time as the Vietnamese cinema and other art industries gradually recover from the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic after a two-year disruption.
An array of exciting activities are scheduled during the festival, including an exhibition showcasing Hanoi’s historical landmarks and cultural heritage, outdoor movie screenings, and a program for interactions among renowned film stars.
