Vietnam – Laos Friendship Exchange Program Held in the US

On the morning of August 6, at Rock Creek Park, Washington DC, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US held a friendship exchange program with the Laotian Embassy in the US.

This is an annual traditional program between the two embassies and is one of many activities to celebrate the Vietnam – Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year. 2022 also marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam – Laos (September 5, 1962 – September 5, 2022) and 45 years after signing the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 – July 18, 2022).

Attending the program was officers and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy, Trade Office, Defense Attaché Office, the Office of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam, and Vietnam News Agency in the US and their family members.

Speaking at the program, Lao Ambassador to the US Sisavath Inpachanh expressed his sincere thank for the affection, close and effective cooperation that Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung and the Vietnamese Embassy in the US had for himself and the Embassy of Laos in the US.

Ambassador Sisavath Inpachanh praised the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Laos over the past 60 years and affirmed that this traditional relationship will continue to develop comprehensively and sustainably.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung said that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries are invaluable assets of the two nations, nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both sides. This relationship is faithful, pure, and sustainable, which is valuable in international relations. Cultivating the special Vietnam-Laos relationship is both the aspiration and responsibility of the agencies, including the overseas representative offices of the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung expressed his hope that exchange activities between the two delegations of Vietnam and Laos in the US will be resumed and organized regularly after the Covid-19 pandemic so that officers and staff of both sides will understand, coordinate better in work, and contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries, the relationship between the two countries with the US, and the relationship between ASEAN and the US.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Embassies, officials, and employees of the two countries reviewed the feelings of solidarity and special support for each other and performed a cultural program praising the Vietnam-Laos relationship, partook in sports exchanges, and enjoy the two countries’ traditional cuisine.
