The news was first covered by entertainment site Deadline Hollywood and later by other media outlets like Variety and IMDb.

The original 2016 film, which was directed by Japanese director Ken Ochiai from a screenplay by Michael Thai, was based on a story by Ochiai and Thai about two professional bodyguards and long-standing friends going on a rescue mission.

International media reported that Pratt and Wu will take on the two leads, which were played by Vietnamese actors Thai Hoa and Kim Ly, respectively, in the original movie.

Pratt will roll out the English-language remake through his Indivisible Productions alongside Anthony and Joe Russo, and Mike Larocca, who will produce through their AGBO production banner.

Screenwriters Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, who worked on the hit comedy ‘What Men Want’ and the American political satire television series ‘Veep,’ are writing the script.

Pratt is a 41-year-old American actor who became a worldwide star after headlining Disney-Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies and the ‘Jurassic World’ films.

Wu, 46, a Chinese martial artist and actor, is best known for starring in and directing the film series ‘Wolf Warriors.’

Pratt previously worked with the Russo brothers on Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ films.

AGBO and the Russo brothers last worked with Wu when they consulted on his 2017 Chinese action ‘Wolf Warrior 2,’ one of the highest-grossing non-English films of all time.
