Vietnamese housewife creates “fever” among Facebook users with perfect dog-shaped mooncakes
Seeing that her daughter loves animals, Oanh made puppy-shaped moon cakes to surprise her on Mid-Autumn night. Her 'puppy cakes', however, were replicated so perfectly that her family didn't dare to touch.

Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh, a Ho Chi Minh City resident, has been nurturing the love for animals in her daughter for years. Her family also has a dog who’s been living with them for almost 10 years.
“We considered the dog another family member. Especially my daughter, she really loves the dog. Therefore, I want to surprise her with moon cakes in puppy shapes this Mid-Autumn festival”, Oanh was quoted by Thanh Nien as saying.

Oanh started to put forward her plan. She turned to the Internet for mooncakes recipes, color tinting, ordered puppy molds from overseas, learning about the different breeds of dogs to bring out the best replication through the cakes.
Although cooking was her forte, Oanh failed twice. On the third time, to her surprise, all the cakes were perfectly baked, with shapes and colors looked exactly the same as the real ones.
“Apart from the sizes, these ‘miniature puppies’ and the real ones look like two drops of water, to the point that my husband and daughter didn’t dare to grab a bite”, Oanh smiled. “I was both happy and sad for this”.

Oanh’s husband refused to eat the moment he saw the bizarre, yet interesting mooncakes. Zinni, her daughter, insisted not to eat. Instead, she took a lot of photos with the unique mooncakes.
“I succeeded in baking the mooncakes that 100 percent resemble the different breeds of dogs, but failed to tempt my family into eating them”, Oanh said, adding that she’s still happy seeing that her daughter got a heart of gold, particularly for animals.
She said she would encourage her daughter to share the special mooncakes with her friends.
