Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Duc Minh, Chiem Hong Thai, Tran Thanh Luc, and Nguyen Van Tai have progressed to the knockout stage of the tournament, with some impressive performances along the way.
On the second day of the competition, Vietnamese players continued to shine and dominate their opponents.
In Group A, Bao Phuong Vinh maintained his lead with a convincing 40-18 win over Jordan’s Nasser Awwad.
Tran Quyet Chien, in Group C, claimed first place after a thrilling 40-40 draw with Greece’s Kostantinos Kokkoris.
Tran Duc Minh, in Group F, continued his stellar performance, defeating Germany’s Ronny Lindemann 40-18. This came as a pleasant surprise to fans, as Minh had already beaten the world’s number 6 player, Martin Horn, earlier in the tournament.
Nguyen Van Tai was the biggest surprise among the Vietnamese players. In Group P, he emerged victorious against strong opponents from Turkey and Greece, Berkay Karakurt and Polychro Nikos, respectively. His advancement to the next round, coupled with his top spot in the group, made for a remarkable achievement.

Chiem Hong Thai, in Group B, had already played his matches the previous day, defeating Turgay Orak from Turkey but losing to the world number 1, Dick Jaspers from the Netherlands. Jaspers’ win over Orak ensured that Chiem Hong Thai advanced to the knockout stage as the second-place finisher in his group.
Tran Thanh Luc, finishing second in Group N, was Vietnam’s final qualifier for the knockout stage. Unfortunately, Le Thanh Tien was unable to advance, placing third in his group.
With six players in the knockout stage, Vietnam dominates this round of the tournament.
The 76th World Championship 3-Cushion Individual, a five-day event, began on Wednesday and will conclude on Sunday. It has attracted 48 players from 26 countries, with a total prize pool of €200,000 (approximately $222,815). The champion will take home €20,000 ($22,282). Vietnam is proudly represented by seven players in this prestigious tournament.
During the group stage, the 48 players were divided into 16 groups, with a round-robin format determining the top 32 players who advanced to the knockout round.
The tournament’s matches are being broadcast live in four languages by Afreeca TV, ensuring a global audience for this exciting billiards event.
