The Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2024 commenced in spectacular fashion on the evening of the 4th of October. A dazzling display of music and light brought to life the heroic moments of the Capital Liberation Day, a historic event celebrated 70 years ago on the 10th of October, 1954.

The captivating hour-and-a-half-long performance transported the audience back to the nation’s glorious victory over its enemies, invoking a sense of pride in their rich history and inspiring hope for an even brighter future ahead.

The show shone a light on the resilience and courage displayed by the people of Hanoi during times of war and paid tribute to their unwavering commitment to the city’s ongoing development and prosperity.

Set against a backdrop of soulful and stirring music, the performance featured a breathtaking lighting display and models showcasing exquisite Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) designed by some of the country’s most renowned designers, including Duc Hung, Do Trinh Hoai Nam, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, and Miss Ngoc Han. The stunning visuals and elegant fashion left a lasting impression on all who attended.

Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Vu Thu Ha, emphasized the city’s rich cultural heritage, boasting three UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritages and nearly 10,000 tangible and intangible cultural treasures. She highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the city’s cultural identity, including its invaluable relics and architectural masterpieces.

“The Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival is an annual cultural event that celebrates and preserves our traditional values,” said Vu Thu Ha. “It showcases the unique beauty of Vietnamese culture and the Ao dai, contributing to a new direction in the development of culture and tourism in our capital city. We believe this festival helps establish Vietnam and Hanoi as favored destinations for travelers from all over the world, reinforcing our title as ‘Asia’s Leading City Destination’ awarded by the World Travel Awards.”

Now in its third year, the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival has become a highly anticipated event, meticulously organized on a grand scale. This year’s festival features nearly 100 booths and the talented creations of 85 ao dai designers from across the country, along with the participation of travel agencies, airline ticket sellers, and more.

The Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2024, taking place from October 4 to 6 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, offers a wealth of engaging experiences. Visitors can enjoy a double-decker bus tour titled “The Quintessence of Ao Dai,” witness the vibrant Ao Dai Carnival with nearly 1,000 participants, and be mesmerized by the stunning opening ceremony.

At the festival’s main venue, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, guests can explore diverse ao dai collections, learn about the silk production process from artisans of the Van Phuc silk village, and observe the sewing techniques of craftsmen from the Trach Xa Ao Dai craft village. Traditional folk games, along with a culinary space showcasing the “Five Tastes of Hanoi Culinary,” provide a delightful blend of culture and taste for all attendees.
