This year's Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival promises to be even more special as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of the capital's liberation. The festival will showcase the elegance and beauty of this traditional Vietnamese garment, with a modern twist. So, whether you're a local or a visitor, get ready to immerse yourself in the rich culture and heritage of Hanoi and experience the ao dai like never before!

International travelers, expats, politicians, and Vietnamese women of all ages and walks of life are cordially invited to participate in the ongoing “Charming Women in Vietnamese Ao Dai” photo contest, which is currently accepting submissions until August 2024.

This contest is just one of the many cultural events organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation. It is part of the larger “Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival in 2024”, a celebration featuring a diverse range of activities. These include a photo contest showcasing the elegance of women in ao dai, a traditional Vietnamese costume, as well as an ao dai folk dance competition, an ao dai carnival, and much more.

The Hanoi Women’s Union has announced that there will be one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and ten consolation prizes awarded to the most captivating photos of women in the iconic Vietnamese dress. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony taking place on October 5 at the historic Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi.

Additionally, “The Month of Hanoi Ao Dai in 2024” will commence on October 1 at the Vietnam Women’s Museum, featuring a special ao dai performance immediately after the opening ceremony.

The grand finale, titled “Hanoi Women in Integration and Development,” will be the Ao Dai Carnival. This spectacular event will bring the city to life with a vibrant fusion of fashion and cultural expression.

This much-anticipated event will take place at the iconic Thang Long Imperial Citadel on October 5 at 8 a.m., with the participation of women representing all 579 communes, wards, and townships of Hanoi.

Furthermore, the Hanoi Women’s Union, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports, will host a folk dance contest with the theme “Hanoi Women: Healthy and Beautiful.” Participants are invited to submit their dance video clips by the end of August, showcasing their unique talents and interpretations of this theme.

Mark your calendars for the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024, which will be held from October 4 to 6 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The main stage will be located at Doan Mon Square, 19C Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. This festival promises to be a celebration of culture and tradition, with approximately 80 to 100 booths showcasing the exquisite creations of ao dai designers and brands from across North, Central, and South Vietnam.

The festival will also present a captivating Ao Dai Fashion Show, an Ao Dai Exhibition, promotions of tourism products and traditional handicraft villages, and the Hanoi Culinary Space, offering a delightful blend of culture and cuisine.

This is the third edition of the festival, organized by the Department of Tourism and the Hanoi Women’s Union, with the shared vision of promoting the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai as a “tourism ambassador” and establishing the annual Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival as a signature tourism product of Hanoi’s vibrant tourism industry.

The cultural event also holds special significance as it commemorates major holidays in 2024, particularly the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital. According to Vu Thu Ha, deputy chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the festival is a testament to the city’s commitment to developing and celebrating its cultural industries.
