President José Ramos-Horta’s historic visit to Vietnam marks the fourth time senior leaders of Timor-Leste have graced our nation since the establishment of diplomatic ties. This presents a valuable opportunity for both countries to strengthen their bond and discuss strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Immediately following the welcome ceremony, President To Lam and President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste engage in high-level talks, solidifying their commitment to fostering stronger ties.

Vietnam and Timor-Leste formalized their diplomatic relations at the Ambassador level in July 2002. Since then, high-level visits and exchanges have been a cornerstone of our growing partnership. The opening of the Timor-Leste Embassy in Hanoi in April 2012 further cemented our bilateral ties.
Witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on education cooperation, the two leaders lay the foundation for enhanced collaboration in this vital sector, benefiting the youth of both nations.
