The MICHELIN Guide Vietnam is back with its second edition, showcasing 42 incredible eateries across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City through its Bib Gourmand selection. This prestigious recognition is awarded to restaurants offering exceptional food at affordable prices, and the latest edition features a delightful mix of longstanding favorites and exciting newcomers.

Bib Gourmand, one of the most renowned Michelin restaurant guides, highlights culinary gems that deliver a memorable dining experience without breaking the bank. While these restaurants may not bear the illustrious Michelin star, they boast delicious fare and exceptional value, with a three-course meal priced below a certain threshold, taking into account local costs of living.

Let’s explore the five new entrants that have earned their place on the Bib Gourmand list in Hanoi:

Bún Chả Chan, a humble bun cha establishment that has been serving up this iconic Vietnamese dish for over a decade, goes beyond the traditional caramelized pork meatballs and rice vermicelli in a tangy broth by offering grilled pork belly and minced beef in betel leaf for a unique twist.

Luk Lak captivates diners with its unique take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Their signature dish, Sa Pa’s pork belly dipped in herbal sauce and grilled to perfection, is served with mac mat leaves that provide a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors.

Miến Lươn Đông Thịnh, a beloved institution for over 40 years, specializes in eel-based dishes. Their menu features a delightful array of eel noodles, congee, and soup, each prepared with care and showcasing the versatility of this delicate ingredient.

Mr Bảy Miền Tây is renowned for its crispy banh xeo pancake, a true delight that can be filled with a variety of savory ingredients. This small shop also offers a mouthwatering selection of hot pot, spring rolls, rice noodles, and barbecues that keep customers coming back for more.

Phở Khôi Hói, a street food haven, presents a tantalizing take on the classic pho. Their beef noodle soup features a range of cuts, including rare treats such as beef heel muscle, ensuring a flavorful and satisfying dining experience.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Bib Gourmand list welcomes eight new additions: Bánh Xèo 46A, Bò Kho Gánh, Bún Bò Huế 14B, Mặn Mòi (Thu Duc City), Nhà Tú, Tiệm Cơm Thố Chuyên Ký, Vị Quê Kitchen, and Sol Kitchen & Bar. Each of these establishments brings something unique to the table, reflecting the city’s vibrant and diverse culinary scene.

As we eagerly anticipate the full reveal of the 2024 MICHELIN Guide restaurant selection for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, including the highly coveted MICHELIN Stars and Special Awards, mark your calendars for June 27, when the ultimate guide to culinary excellence in Vietnam will be unveiled.
