According to Hollywood’s Deadline, “Lat Mat 7” will make its way to audiences in North America, Europe, and Australia—a remarkable feat for Vietnamese cinema. This marks the first time a Vietnamese film has premiered simultaneously across these three continents.
Through 33888 Films, the distribution company, screenings are set to take place in a dozen countries: the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and several European nations, including the UK, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. The film’s reach is truly impressive.
At the heart of “Lat Mat 7” is a 73-year-old single mother, whose life revolves around her five children. The story takes an emotional turn when she suffers a broken leg in an accident and yearns to have her family by her side. However, her children, for various reasons, fail to step up and take responsibility.
The film has been a massive success commercially, ranking as the second highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time. As of June, it had garnered an impressive VND461 billion ($18.07 million) in revenue, as reported by Box Office Vietnam.
