The Vietnamese Women’s Association in Hungary, along with the Vietnamese Embassy in Budapest, jointly hosted an award ceremony for a painting contest. This event was organized to coincide with the 49th anniversary of national reunification, taking place from March 2023 through to April 30th.
With a shared vision to promote and celebrate Vietnam’s rich culture, its people, and their heritage to an international audience, including the second and third generations of Vietnamese residing in Hungary, the organizers initiated a painting contest. This initiative received an overwhelming response from the community.
What made the contest even more remarkable was the high level of participation it attracted. With 364 entries and 87,867 updates on the contest’s Facebook page, it garnered significant attention. The contest also received coverage from multiple Hungarian newspapers, further amplifying its reach and impact.
One of the most surprising and delightful outcomes of the contest was the first-prize winners. Szabó Zétény, a Hungarian student, claimed first place in the age group of one to four years old, while another Hungarian student, Sebok Lilla, secured first place in the five-to-eight-year-old category. Their talent and creativity shone through, capturing the essence of Vietnam in their artwork.
At the award ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary, Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, applauded the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Hungary for their innovative approach to organizing this drawing contest centered around Vietnam. She emphasized the effectiveness of this initiative in not only introducing Vietnam to Hungarian friends but also in inspiring students, teachers, and parents to actively engage with and learn about Vietnam’s culture, traditions, landscapes, and development.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Thao presented Certificates of Merit to six deserving winners. In addition to the two aforementioned first-prize winners, contestants from Vietnam, China, and Denmark received second and third prizes. The Organizing Board was also recognized with a certificate of merit for their creative vision and successful execution of the competition.
This contest served as a meaningful bridge between Vietnam and the Hungarian people, fostering a deeper connection and understanding. It stands as a testament to the power of art and culture in bringing nations closer together and strengthening their relationship for the future.
